FOR THIS EXHIBITION

The brand-new Belvedere Tiburon Library Art Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Connections: Art and Music, explores the powerful synergy when art is created or influenced by music. We are seeking submissions that suggest music as fueling your imagination. Along with your entry, please include a brief statement about how music influences your art and process.

WHAT TYPE OF WORK IS ACCEPTED

  • Two-dimensional original artworks, including but not limited to framed paintings, stretched paintings, framed works on paper (including drawings, watercolors, pastels, and limited edition prints) and photography;
  • Two-dimensional includes very low-relief works (4 inches deep or less measured from the wall as hung) including but not limited to framed paintings, fiber, textile or mixed media;
  • We cannot accommodate works that are suspended from the ceiling.
  • Maximum dimensions allowed are 72”x48” or 48”x72” and work cannot exceed 50 pounds.

SUBJECT MATTER

  • Submissions will be evaluated on technique and overall mastery of art principles.
  • The library is a family destination and subject matter must be acceptable.
  • Work must be ready for installation with hanging hardware: wire and d-rings already securely installed on work. (No saw tooth hangers are permitted.)
  • Pieces delivered without appropriate hardware will not be accepted.
  • Proposed art must comply with all other requirements.

DELIVERY AND DISPLAY

  • Accepted pieces must be labeled with the artwork’s title, the artist’s name, and the artist’s contact information (email and phone) securely adhered to the back of the artwork in the lower right-hand corner.
  • Any wrapping (including paper, bubble wrap, and/or other packing materials) must be removed upon delivery.
  • In addition to the physical gallery, all accepted artworks may be displayed in a Web Gallery running concurrently with the show. Artists will be asked to provide artist statements for both the physical and virtual galleries.
  • By submitting artwork, artists agree that photographed images, in whole or in part, may be used by the Library for publicity in various forms including print, online and social media.
  • Accepted work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibition.
  • Any sales will be handled through the Belvedere Tiburon Library Foundation and the Library Foundation will retain 30% of the purchase price. The Belvedere Tiburon Library cannot guarantee any sale of artwork.
  • While volunteers will handle your work with utmost care and the library has insurance coverage, the Library strongly recommends that exhibiting artists also carry their own insurance.
